Born in 943 to low-born parents who died suddenly, and was raised by his grandparents. An unruly child, he made a right mess of his youth, but quickly found his place in the militia, and later the Heroes' Guild, where he excelled—fighting at Válaris' side many times—and gradually rose through the ranks, up to Chapter Master, before getting the job as Guild Marshal.

Primary: Tankred is bouncing back with a vengeance from a long period of chronic illness, and rearing to get out there and crack some skulls.
Secondary: Ill-wishers in Tankred's family were eagerly awaiting his demise to take their share of his fortune, but now that he's miraculously recovered, he's can't bring himself to forgive them and is cutting them off, though some (genuinely or otherwise) keep trying to make amends.
