Title: The Most Honourable Válaris of Heroham, Grand Master of the Heroes’ Guild and Defender of the Helpless
Actor: Ian McShane, Ref: JohnWick

Concept

Veteran Fighter, No-Nonsense Guild Boss

Tropes

The Chessmaster; Cool Old Guy; Da Chief; Reasonable Authority Figure

Details

  • Low-born, in Heroham (in Landbury), in 943
  • Worked his way up through the ranks of the Heroes' Guild over decades, eventually named Steward, then chosen as Grand Master of the Guild around ten years ago
  • Recognized by the King of Generica and other top nobles of the Realm for his bravery, cunning, and timely interventions; has been offered knighthood several times but always refused
  • Has seen a little too much of the shenaniganry perpetrated by the noble houses, and wants no part of any of it (hence the refusal of knighthood)
    • Has a special, dark place in his heart for the house of Lionheart
    • Powers-that-be are secretly bothered by their inability to gain a hook into him
  • Has mostly retired from "active duty" but will still occasionally put a boot up someone's ass at his age, if needed
  • Married (a gentleman's daughter, a "prize" for a job long ago); wife is always fussing over his health

Traits

Famous; Nigh-Fearless; Expert Fighter; Expert Strategist; Dislike of Nobility
